Billing & Credits
ButterStack uses a credit-based system for AI actions. There is no free tier: every plan starts with a 14-day free trial - no credit card required to get started.
Every AI action - a build fix, a failure analysis, an asset analysis - uses 100 credits. Each plan includes a monthly AI credit allowance, and your credits reset at the start of each billing cycle.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | AI credits / month | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Indie | $29 | $288 | 2,500 | Indie developers and small teams (1-3 members) |
| Team | $49 | $468 | 5,000 | Growing teams (3-20 members), adds multi-project observability |
| Studio | $149 | $1,428 | 20,000 | Established studios (20-50 members), adds SSO and success management |
| Enterprise | Custom | Contact sales | Custom | Large AAA studios: unlimited projects, SLA guarantees, dedicated support |
⚠️ Credit Usage
Every AI action uses a flat 100 credits, and your allowance resets at the start of each billing cycle. Monitor usage in your dashboard.
Integration availability by plan
Every plan includes Perforce, Lore, Jenkins, Jira, Steam, Unreal, Unity, and Discord. Slack, GitHub, GitLab, Linear, and Trello require Team or above. Integrations your plan does not cover appear under Needs upgrade on the integrations page.
Team Collaboration
Inviting Team Members
- Go to Project Settings → Team
- Click Invite Member
- Enter email address and select role:
- Admin - Full account access
- Member - Standard access to the projects they belong to
- Reviewer - Focused on the asset approval workflow
Permission Levels
| Permission | Admin | Member | Reviewer |
|---|---|---|---|
| View builds and logs for their projects | ✅ | ✅ | ✅ |
| Configure integrations | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Manage team and roles | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
| Billing access | ✅ | ❌ | ❌ |
The account owner is always an admin and cannot have that role removed. Project-level access is separate from account role: a user sees a project’s builds and assets only if they are a member of that project.
Security Best Practices
Two-Factor Authentication
Enable 2FA for enhanced security:
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Enable Two-Factor Authentication
- Scan QR code with authenticator app
- Enter verification code to confirm
API Key Management
When generating API keys:
- Use descriptive names (e.g., “Jenkins Integration”)
- Set appropriate permissions
- Rotate keys regularly
- Never commit keys to version control
